March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
Dress in Blue. Share Your Why.
Join the movement - Dress in Blue, and share your story for colorectal cancer awareness.
Dress in Blue is Colon Cancer STARS’ annual March awareness movement for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, uniting communities through storytelling, remembrance, survivorship, and prevention.
Dress in Blue Day was created through the leadership and lived advocacy of Executive Director, Program Director, and STARS Founder Anita Mitchell-Isler. Her vision calls communities to take lifesaving screening seriously and to ensure that no one faces colorectal cancer alone. Today, Dress in Blue is more than a single day. It is a month-long movement of awareness, remembrance, and hope throughout March.
Why It Matters
Screening can prevent colorectal cancer or detect it early when treatment is most effective. Community awareness plays a critical role in helping individuals take that first step toward screening and prevention.
By participating, individuals help:
Encourage screening starting at age 45
Support survivors and families
Honor loved ones
Strengthen community‑wide prevention and hope
How to Participate
Participate by wearing blue clothing or accessories during March to show your support.
Take a photo or video of yourself in blue and describe why colorectal cancer awareness is important to you.
When sharing your post, use these hashtags: #DressInBlue2026 and #ColonCancerStars, and tag us at @ColonSTARS so your story is included.
Encourage someone you love to schedule a screening.
Throughout the month, Colon Cancer STARS will highlight community voices, survivor journeys, family tributes, and partner participation, demonstrating the collective impact of shared stories.
Take Action Today
If you are age 45 or older, talk with your healthcare provider about colorectal cancer screening. Your action could save your life or someone you love.
